I believe that home birth, is the bar that is set for birth. It is, with the right circumstances the best you can get. I believe that a home birth planned and attended with a skilled Midwife is safer than other birthing options.
I truly believe if you cannot have or are not ready for a home birth than you should strive to make you birth as close as possible to the bar set by homebirth; working with a Skilled Professional Birth Attendant.
Midwives work relentlessly to train, study and hone skills; it in itself is a never ending profession. While it is common to hear how birthing mothers want their Midwives to be as hands off as possible, there are times when her hands are invaluable.
I believe birth is natural, beautiful, powerful, spiritual, life changing and it usually works best when left alone. Birth affects a woman, baby and family, physically, emotionally and spiritually. This is a sacred season that should be honored, respected and cherished!
I provide a variety of services to women and families in AL, TN, MS and GA. Some of the services I offer are:
I also provide monitrice services. I have not been certified but have worked with moms for the last three years to help them obtain the births they desire. I also offer lactation support before and after the birth.
What is the difference between a doula and a monitrice? A doula provides labor support, relaxation techniques and coping methods. A doula does not provide medical advice; she is completely supportive of the wishes of her client.
A monitrice provides all afore mentioned plus monitors mom and baby's vitals and does cervical checks. This is more appropriate for the family that wants to labor at home as long as possible.
I provide doula services under special circumstances. I work as a doula with mothers whose pregnancy will not continue to full term. I work with clients during the end of the pregnancy and during their recovery.
I believe no mother should be alone, regardless of circumstances. If you, or someone you know needs support, help, kindness and love, please contact me.
